New Catalog Open House Tonight!

Hi! I'm hosting a new catalog open house at my home tonight. I've been working feverishly on samples using my new toys, and there will be fun make and takes to give the new stuff a run, including the Blendabilities markers. Plus, I'm making a batch of my Baba's iced tea! If you're in town, drop on by!

Here's a quick phone shot I grabbed this morning on my way put the door of the table featuring items I've made using new stuff!

I'd love to see your shiny, happy face!

News Flash

Hello! Just a quick post to say - I finally opened my own Stampin' Up website! You can find me HERE.

Bonus - since you are looking at a post, might as well be looking at a card...

More Eastern Elegance paper! This CASE is from the current catalog, page 81. I switched up the ribbon treatment and the little sentiment. I kind of feel like the cute ruffle trim gets lost against the print, but it does add some fun texture. Here's the story behind the catalog CASE session - I was traveling for work and took a small selection (ha ha, huge tote, extra suitcase, and my Big Shot) of supplies with me to do a little something in the evenings. I figured, where better to get some inspiration than the pages of the catalog? Works for me! I turned out several over the few days I was away. Lots better than lying around watching the tube!

Have a FANTASTIC day!

Swappin' the Night Away

You may or may not be aware that the Stampin' Up! catalog year is coming to an end soon. Earlier this week, my friend and I hit the road to attend the new catalog premiere at a movie theater in Des Moines, IA. This is 8+ hours from home in good weather without many stops. Needless to say... neither direction took 8 hours. :) It was still a fun trip, but I really wish Minneapolis hadn't sold out so quickly!

At any rate, where there is a Stampin' Up event, there are swaps. I joined a group of 10 women who connected online beforehand. Got some beautiful cards and great ideas in return for my own set of cards! I made 2 versions of the same card since I had designer paper to use. I have been loving the Eastern Elegance papers!

Here is one... not a great pic, but I didn't realize it before I let them all out of my possession...

The other color scheme, with a sentiment added. (I didn't stamp sentiments on any of my swaps.)

I used the Banners Framelit die to make the bottom banner, a strip of card stock flagged using the Hexagon punch, a Label die shape, and the Butterfly punches. Stamps are Happy Day and Lovely Romance. I attempted a guess at stamp sets that wouldn't be on the retired list, but I failed. I knew I was using soon-to-retire paper anyway, so I will be able to sleep at night. :)

These cards are actually a CASE of my own creation from last summer, which is itself a catalog CASE. I really liked the sample on page 106 of the current catalog. I switched the direction of the layout but kept the layered idea and placement of elements.

This version uses stamps from Creative Elements (retiring favorite - sniffle!) and Epic Day This & That paper. I have been hoarding this card as I really like how it turned out. Maybe I should go ahead and Let It Go... because I need room for more cards!

Anyway, it is Prom weekend here in ND and there are many other events taking place in the next 2 days, so off to bed for me! Hope you enjoyed these 3-of-a-kind cards!

Club shenanigans

By popular request, I am posting some recent lovelies I made for fun along with the cards we made at our hostess club this week.

First, I made a set of 12 cards as inspired by a post about One Sheet Wonder cards at Operation Write Home. I enjoy the kind you make with lots of funky cuts, but sometimes the stripped-down approach makes the most sense. I did the option of cutting a 12x12 sheet of designer paper into 12, 4x3 rectangles, using Eastern Elegance. I dressed up each card differently using Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry ribbon, the Decorative Label, Scallop Trim, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, and Boho Blossoms punches, Hello Lovely and Happy Day stamp sets, and Basic Black and Smoky Slate solid card stock. A tip on the card stock - 2 sheets of 8.5x11 trim down to make 6- 4.25x3.25 mats of each sheet. It's a great way to use up DSP and stretch supplies at the same time. Weird. Here they are, in no particular order:

For club, I revised the design using Sweet Essentials, the Spiral Flowers die, and Venetian Romance paper with mats of Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango.

Here's the other club card - a simple valentine using a hand made stacked embellishment. I have seen a lot of these in the store and thought it would be even better if I made it myself! I also made one with the Bitty Butterfly and different papers. Any small punch would do. The sentiment is from Express Yourself. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of this fun hostess set.

I also showed our group a couple of simple cards I had made with new sets from the Occasions catalog, but had deemed not quite right for club night since one is too simple and we didn't have enough candy dots to go around, and the other was a LOT of watercolor but really not too bad for time, at least when I made it I didn't feel it took an excessive amount of time to complete.

Spiral Spins, Sweet Essentials, and Candy Dots

So Very Grateful and many ink pads, using Blender Pen to color

I'm being summoned to watch a baby in the bath! Have a great night!
